Surgery: Day 1 - Pre-op

Brrrr - Only in the teens outside!

In the pre-op room

Puppy is getting a bracelet for his leg (it has Sammy's information on it - how cute is that?)

After the trauma of getting his bracelets on (he kept trying to pull the bracelets off and saying "all done" so I'm handing him his puppy)

Mad about the pulse-ox bandaid on his toe - I was holding his leg because he was trying to kick it off and whipping the cord really hard

All fine again, finally done saying "all done"

Happy to show us how big he is by putting his arms in the holes himself

Sammy likes to be neat and also likes to be a helper - he's throwing his tissue away

checking out Phil's badge for the hospital

Sammy likes the little laughing Elmo that we brought

Throwing tissues away became a game

Getting some "loopy juice"

He didn't want his nose wiped anymore - but thought his toes needed some cleaning

Taking the tissues out of the $100 tissue box (j/k - I have no idea how much that box of tissues will cost... I'm not too worried about it - he had fun)

feeling loopy - oh he was so funny as the medicine kicked in

After a while, Sammy got angry - most likely because he was thirsty and ready for a bottle... I had started singing to him and told him he could go to sleep and that reminded him it was bottle time - oops

but pushing buttons on Mommy's iPod makes everything all better - he was SO loopy!

the anesthesiologist made Sam a chicken out of a glove

The doctor was so kind and said that Sammy could come with him and the chicken

And since he wouldn't let go of the iPod, it also went to surgery with the chicken and Sammy.

the chicken is wearing the headphones - how much better could a mom feel seeing her son head off with such a kind doctor

Praying for Sammy's surgery. Love compassionate doctors! :)
