Ways God is working: I had the opportunity to design an adoption announcement for another family and earn money towards Jemma's adoption! It was SUPER fun! I'm moving forward with the idea that God put in my heart and trusting that He'll show me where to go with it and why in His perfect timing.
The biggest blessing from the Lord this week is that we got an update on Jemma with 2 videos, 6 pictures, and answers to the list of questions we sent the nannies! I was chatting with Phil online when the email came Friday afternoon and I gasped and typed CALL ME NOW! Hahahaha! We looked at the email together with the pictures and were AMAZED! She looks so happy and warm and SPUNKY! OH MY! I thought she was going to be sad and quiet and maybe meek and mild. Uh... It looks like she has some major personality! I know this is SO great and that she will fit right in... but I did have a few moments of nervousness as I am realizing my hands are going to be FULL! But, I praise the Lord - my cup overflows!
God has been answering my prayer for Jemma to be "warm". Looks like she's toasty warm in the pictures! :D Clearly she is healthy, well cared for and getting enough to eat!
A super fun thing that God did this week is help me line up photographers for our coming home pictures at the airport!!! Our friend who took Sammy's pictures, Elizabeth from Story Tree Photos, is raising support to head out of country. So, I checked with Deidre from Beyond the Veil Photography, and she and her husband are willing to donate their services and take pictures at the airport for us!!! I'm thrilled that they can be there to capture another priceless moment in my life. (Please check out these photographers' pages - they are amazing at what they do!!!)
Things learned: Jemma likes all foods and isn't picky. She likes sound toys and stuffed animals. She cries when she doesn't get what she wants (like a special toy). She plays with her bunny periodically. She can walk with assistance and moves around in a walker-toy. She can say some 1-2 character words and understand simple instructions. She plays inside in the morning and then goes outside for a couple hours in the afternoons to play with other children.
By looking at her pictures, I learned that she has the most beautiful face, the sweetest cheeks, and most kissable lips! She has a few teeth. She has the most precious little hands and holds the pen so well! Her cheeks match her sweater! She has nearly nonexistent eyes when she smiles! She looks like she loves to laugh and loves to make people laugh!!!
Stuff we've done for the adoption this week: started getting things for Jemma's nursery (went through my parents' frames and got a bunch that will work for the collage); looked at places to vacation as a family after we're home from China - hoping for some intensive summer bonding!
What I am looking forward to: I800a approval - hoping for this week! Really looking forward to being DTC (dossier to China)!
Praying: That God will prepare us for Jemma and prepare her for us... that we'd attach easily and quickly and that I'd get my feet under me quickly after she gets home and adjusting to 5 will be a breeze......
