We landed in Beijing at 9:45pm local time. The Beijing airport was beautiful and mostly empty and quiet. We got our baggage really easily - I think our bags were the first off the plane almost every time we flew. We headed outside to find the shuttle to our hotel. A taxi driver told us there were no hotels and followed us around. Phil looked up our reservation and just called the hotel and asked them where the shuttle was and they told him to go past the busses and cross the street. Sure enough, within view of where we were standing, we could see the shuttles. Phil was confident the whole time that the taxi driver was lying. We got to the shuttle and waited for the driver. After he showed up and loaded our luggage, he drove us to our hotel which was about 2 minutes away. It was breath-taking! The front desk told us they took the liberty of upgrading our standard room to a suite. :) Why, thank you! Such luxury! The overnight was wonderful and we enjoyed finally being able to sleep after such a long flight.
(I forgot to take a picture of the half bath located just off the entrance to the room.)
