Sammy's Adoption: Day 5 - He is officially our son!

Today at 11am, Sammy became our son.  Phil and I woke up about 4am.  I had a bad stomach ache and Phil had a cough.  After quietly figuring out medicine and emailing with family, Phil showered while I rested a bit more and then we got dressed and ready for the day.  Phil is so great about getting the room packed back up and secured so we can leave it knowing our things are neat and will be safe.  Sammy woke up and looked at me about 7am but put his head face down and kept his eyes covered for a while longer.  It seemed like he was remembering where he was and the events from yesterday.  We gave him his paci to help him remember and he seemed thrilled to see the familiar toy from yesterday.  Phil picked him up and played the game of dropping the paci into the crib for Daddy to pick up and hand back.  I got pictures.  I gave him another bottle – so special.  He happily crawled right into my lap and let me feed him.  After his bottle, we got him dressed.  Jeans, socks, blue robeez, Little Brother shirt, and new blue hooded sweater.
We went down to the lobby to facetime with the kids so they could see Sammy with us for the first time – such a special time.  Annalisa and Valerie connected and could see us with Sammy and started screaming – HAHAHA – but it was a bad connection so they couldn’t really see us very well.  Valerie called us back on her phone and then the kids got to see Sammy.  Lily was first.  She was SO happy.  When Sammy saw her, he really reacted excitedly.  Phoebe was so sweet.  She told Sammy that he was with Mommy and Daddy and we would be his mommy and daddy forever.  So sweet!  It was hard to get Sammy to look at the ipad at people because there was so much going on in the lobby.  He got a kick out of Titus though.  We gave him little toy keys to play with while we chatted.  He drooled all over them and his sweater and then tried to give them to Jacob and Annalisa and Valerie.
After we finished talking, we went to the buffet and gave Sammy plain congee.  He was more interested in the banana bread.  Celine arrived and we left for the Civil Affairs office to finalize the adoption.  We signed documents and had interviews.  Then over top of all our signatures, we stamped our thumb prints in blue ink.  Sammy even had to have his foot stamped on the documents, too.  There were several other families with us in the room.  One mom also had a child from the Yulin orphanage.  Bella is from a different floor.  We found it a bit odd that the nannies that came with Bella and Sammy were only interested in Sammy.  They showed so much affection for Sammy.  But I felt bad for the little girl, knowing it means there are longer term ramifications.  The mom told us later that the nannies said that Sammy was one of their favorites.  Everyone comments on how handsome he is.  Celine said yesterday that she would guess where he’s from because “they say” all good looking boys come from a particular place.  She said she does not think he is from a rural area.
Speaking of Celine, while we were driving to the office, she gave us the translation for Sammy’s finding ad.  We’ve been doing our best to gather as much information and pictures so that we can piece together Sammy’s story.
