Jemma woke up on queue this morning for her early AM bottle and instead of going back to sleep at 4am I decided to just get up and officially unpack and organize our suite. It was nice. As the sun rose, the heat did too and I enjoyed looking out the window and watching the early morning. I was studying all the balconies and how much greenery the people can fit on their balconies in a city of cement when I saw these two rooftop neighbors talking across the buildings to each other.
This morning after another AMAZING breakfast, we met our Lifeline group at our bus/van and headed over to the Cantonese Folk Art museum.
We had "chops" made. These are carved out of stone and the stone is becoming more and more rare.
You know those fans you get at parades - I stuck them in our suitcase and keep them in the diaper bag. Phil told me to give him a thumbs up. LOL
We were looking forward to going to see this guy - he paints with his hand and fingers - really quite amazing to watch!
We also visited the pearl market today and I got 5 pearls for a nest necklace I'm going to have made when we get home to represent my five babies. Phil and I also got three high quality white glossy sea pearls for purity rings for the girls when they are older. We visited the jade shop and picked out some pieces there before heading back to our hotel for the afternoon.
JJ filled her diaper and the rest of her outfit after we got back from shopping so she got a bath before nap time.
Phil and I had ramen for lunch that we brought with us from home.
Jemma wore her shirt that her sister picked out for her and sent with us - I think she's happy!
I might have been tickling her...
We went out to eat at an Irish place called Paddy Field for dinner tonight with another Lifeline family - soooo fun!
During the meal, one of the staff came and talked to us for quite a while in English. She is studying English at the university and going to get married soon. She spoke very well. She said she taught herself for half a year and then started going to school for English. She wants to get a job speaking English. She talked to Jemma and was very hands on (saw that Jemma wasn't buckled and came and buckled her - hahaha) and when we were getting ready to go, she picked Jemma up out of her high chair. Jemma started to protest a little so the girl started to put Jemma on the floor so she could walk to Phil, but Jemma doesn't support her body very well, especially on command and when she's upset so she just got kind of floppy (all of this was in a matter of like 3 seconds). Phil swooped in rapidly and kindly said, Oh, you want Dada!! Come by Dada! And he just really gracefully and graciously took her in his arms. I at this point had stood up and come around to where Jemma was and could see she was glad that Daddy had picked her up. Then she turned her head and saw me and did the most amazing thing. She put her hands up in the air to me and called "Mama!" I scooped her up and exclaimed, "You're right, Jemma, I'm your Mama!!! I'm Mama!" The girl even validated Jemma and the other people at the table recognized how cool of a moment it was. Phil took our picture just after it happened. She called me Mama!!! (I've been telling her for a week that I'm her Mama. I point to myself and say Mama and point to her and say JJ and point to Phil and say Dada. She is cute because she can say Mama, Dada, and JJ now, but to actually call out for me when she wanted me and say Mama - well my heart burst!)
This is the girl who picked Jemma up out of her highchair. (Jemma looks less than thrilled to be posing for a picture with this girl who infringed on her new security with a Mommy and Daddy.)
